Bideford Manor Court – Saturday 14 March 2026
Bideford Town Council invites residents to take part in the historic Bideford Manor Court ceremony, taking place on Saturday 14 March 2026.
Residents of the Parish of Bideford are invited to submit presentments — ideas or project proposals that would benefit the town, the local community, or visitors. Presentments should be submitted by 12 noon on Monday 23 February 2026, either in a sealed envelope addressed to the Manor Steward and delivered to the Town Council building, or via email to [email protected]k
Presentments that fall within the Council’s remit and are considered feasible will be presented to the Court and reviewed by a jury of 12 Bideford residents.
Local community members wishing to take part in the ceremony must complete an application form and return it to the Town Clerk. If applications exceed the number of available places, participants will be selected by a draw conducted by the Mayor. Successful applicants may bring one guest and are invited to attend the Civic Reception following the ceremony.
The Manor Court will be held at Bideford Baptist Church, Mill Street, followed by a Civic Reception at The Royal Hotel.
Previous presentments granted include:
- Installation of benches at Pollyfield Park and on the football pitch slope overlooking Bideford West
- Interpretation and way-marking boards at both entrances to Ford Woods, highlighting the site’s history (including the former zoo) and its Ancient Woodland status
- Victoria Park improvements such as the popular outdoor gym equipment
