056   PUBLIC PARTICIPATION SESSION

The member of the public, Mr Chris Hassall (CPRE) was invited to speak.  He had concerns for Planning Application (h.), the Totem sign for Lidl.  He explained that the original application was grated showing the site entrance opening onto the Clovelly Road Industrial Estate opposite BJ Value House.  He remarked that the more recent application for the same site showed an entrance onto the main Clovelly Road which, he noted, this Council had refused due to the impact of traffic along that section of road, and that Torridge District Authority had not as yet made a decision.

He suggested that this application for totem signage was premature as the site application had not yet been granted and was concerned that additional signage would negate de-cluttering rulings regarding signage along Clovelly Road.

Councillor Langmead asked the Chairman if Mr Hassall was speaking on a personal note or as a member of a group.  The gentleman answered that he was speaking from a personal point of view and as a member of CPRE and acquiesced to this information being minuted.
