Minutes of the Planning Committee Meeting held in the Town Hall, Bideford on Wednesday 27 September 2023 at 6.00 pm.

039. APOLOGIES FOR ABSENCE

There were no apologies for absence.

040.    DECLARATIONS OF INTEREST

Councillor P Christie and Councillor D Bushby – Item 5(e) declared a non-pecuniary interest as members of Torridge District Council.

041.    PUBLIC PARTICIPATION SESSION

There were no members of the public in attendance.

042.    MINUTES

The Minutes of the Meeting held on 6 September 2023 were approved and signed as a correct record.

043.    PLANNING APPLICATIONS

a.    Application No: 1/0862/2023/FUL. Replacement of roof covering over main hall and installation of solar panels. Bideford Amateur Athletic Club, The Pill, Kingsley Road, Bideford. Applicant: Bideford AAC (same address). Agent: The Mew Studio, Northam. (Date received: 4 Sept 2023).

RESOLVED: That the application is approved.

b.    Application No: 1/0865/2023/LBC. Conversion and change of use of salon to 2no. dwellings. 1 - 2 Bridge Chambers, Bridge Street, Bideford, Devon. Applicant: Mr I Morris, Shires Cottage,, Long Pot Lane, Lower Loxhore, Barnstaple EX31 4SY. Agent: Mr K Luckhurst, Barnstaple. (Date received 5 Sept 2023).

Members discussed this application at length, voicing concerns over the dilapidated state of many listed buildings within the town.

RESOLVED: That the application is approved.

However, members requested that their major concerns in the state of listed buildings in Bideford, especially the one in Allhalland Street are noted.

044.    PLANNING AUTHORITIES UPDATE BY CLERK

Members noted the decisions received from Torridge District Council since the last meeting.


The business of the meeting having been completed, the Chairman thanked Members for their attendance and the meeting concluded at 6.27 pm.
