013 PLANNING AUTHORITIES UPDATE BY CLERK

The Assistant to the Town Clerk gave an update on planning application decisions received from TDC. The Assistant to the Town Clerk also updated the Committee on the names approved by TDC and sought approval for a list of names cleared by TDC of characters from the novel ‘Westward Ho!’ by Charles Kingsley.
The Assistant also explained that she had received a request from a member of the public to consider the surname of ‘Adams’ for naming a new road in memory of a past Mayor, who was his grandfather. Mr Adams was Mayor at the end of the First World War.
Councillors decided they would consider appropriate names for commemorating 100 years of the start of the First World War and the 70th anniversary of the Second World War and to submit suggestions to the Assistant to the Town Clerk prior to the next meeting on 7 July 2014.The Committee agreed that ‘Hawkins’ should be added to the list of acceptable names and asked the Assistant to the Town Clerk to check with TDC if ‘Drake’, ‘Overlord’ ‘Flanders’ ‘Poppy’ and ‘Pegasus Bridge’ could be considered for the road names list.

The business of the Meeting having been completed, the Chairman thanked the Members for their attendance and the Meeting concluded at 19.30 pm.
